The Key Challenges
The Key Challenge we faced was the most common one when working on any housing development site, an extremely tight programme of works, and phased working. Housing Developers are susceptible to sudden market changes. Show Houses are needed to tight schedules and sold properties need to be fully complete so they can be handed over to their new owners.
Overcoming The Challenge
We operate on the basis of being able to offer flexibility fromour Dublin based manufacturing plant and close relationships with our suppliers, but also by keeping our clients aware of the lead times and of any time constraints. Communication is key and we work closely with the clients on site personnel, in this case Cairns Site Engineer, Ger Doherty who liaised with our MD Shane Winters and Contracts Manager Eoin Ennis. Cairns stated policy of high levels of interaction with sub-contractors to build a skilled and diverse team strongly fits our own philosophy, so the onsite relationship is a good fit.
Products Supplied
We used our Kanturk Estate Railings to the fronts of houses and apartments, and it acted as a fall protection to the tops of walls at sloped planting areas, Our Playspec Bowtop Railings were utilised around the children's play areas, together with matching gates with self-closing hinges to restrict children leaving the safe area. Disability complaint handrails were provided for steps and an all-weather pitch area was fenced with our Kinsale Sports Mesh and Spectator rail system, all materials were Plasgalv® Coated in selected colours.

Positive Outcomes
The Positive outcome at the end of any contract is that we are on good terms with our client and that we have met their expectations. Working for repeat clients is one of our key objectives, what is even better is when your repeat client is as easy to deal with as the guys in Cairn.
We are currently working on several developments at Bayly Development in Castletreasure Co Cork, at Swanbrook in Navan and at Lanestown View Development in Donabate and will showcase these projects once they are fully completed.
