Client Vision

The civil works for St Joseph's & St Ernan's School must allow for a future second 16 classroom school on the site. To facilitate this future construction, the access road, parking and drop-down facilities has to be designed to facilitate the numbers attending two 16 classroom schools.

Key Challenges

The site was a sloping one with different levels which made access and working areas confined at times. As the school will accommodate a special needs unit handrails compliant with Part M were designed for sloping paths and steps and combined with railings which were required for fall protection. .

Meeting The Challenges.

We worked very closely from the commencement of the contract with the Architect and Contractor to select the most appropriate cost-effective products for various location on site

Products Used

340 metres Perimeter Railings to the road frontage with access gates were designed in a modification of our Leinster system Railing,  Bow Top Railing & Gates in Green Plasgalv were used on footpaths. 350m of Pedestrian Guardrail were used in fall risk areas and with 130 metres of  Part M compliant handrail and stair handrails all finished in a grey Plasgalv finish to provide a warm contact as required in Part M, 120m of Timber Fencing. Kylemore mesh was installed to a radiused tactile play area attached to the special needs unit and an elevated play/Sports area was protected with our Kinsale Mesh 2400mm high. All fabricated at our Manufacturing Facility in Inchicore & installed by our expert fitters.

Positive Outcomes .

This was a project where a large number of different products were used most of which we were able to manufacture in our Dublin Works minimising transport and ensuring that amendments and variations dictated by site conditions could be carried out quickly and finished safely without delay to schedules.
