Tight schedules and many changes of level with slopes and steps requiring individually designed materials.
Overcoming The Challenges
The first step was a comprehensive site survey which was undertaken with the Contractor to assess the works required.Initially our design office assisted in the design of each part, providing product proposals for selection and subsequently site specific product drawings. As people of all ages and abilities will visit the new building handrails complying with Part M of The Irish Building Regulations were required,we proposed Kee®Access System. Which is site assembled fully Galvanised and Powder Coated system which allows the installer to accommodate site anomalies These handrails were used with bar infilled railings individually manufactured to follow the sloping walls.
We worked to a tight time schedule and we operated various site visits to coordinate with DHDs work programme.
Products Used
As well as Key Access System handrails and the custom designed railings we also designed handrails for the various stepped areas and Security Entrance Gates. The Perimeter Railings and gates were Finished in Plasgalv Black whilst the interior of the site had a galvanised finish.
Positive Outcomes.
The project was finished on time and to the client’s satisfaction. We believe we were able to provide an aesthetically pleasing design that was both practical and enhanced the overall look of the site. We have continued to work on other projects with DHD including Commercial and Housing Developments.
