St. Catherines Sports Centre – Dublin

Not the easiest site to work on because of its very restricted nature but in the end a very satisfactory outcome.
Client: Dublin City Council St Catherines Community Sports Centre
Contractor: Redlough Landscapes

Client Vision

St Catherines Community Sports Centre is a facility supported by Dublin City Council in The Dublin Liberties on Marrowbone Lane. They wanted to provide an All Weather Soccer Pitch in an area with very limited sports outlets for the locals young and old. Redlough Landscapes were the Contractor for the ground works, landscaping and pitch surface and we supplied and installed the Fence and Netting

Key Challenges

The Site available was extremely tight with limited access and on a location with considerable buried remains of old buildings.

Overcoming The Challenges

Excavating individual Post holes was not feasible so Redlough poured an upstand concrete plinth to which the posts were baseplated.Special machinery narrow enough to navigate the site was brought in to erect the fence posts, fence panels and Roof Netting. .Because of the tight nature of the  site the risk of balls going out of the property was solved by us installing Netting across the entire pitch

Featured Products

A 1200mm kicking board for the ball to rebound from was fixed to the posts. The board was Wisa Plywood. Above this we installed 3800mm Kinsale Twin Wire 868 Sports Mesh bringing the fence to 5000mm. Recessed goal areas were provided.and Polypropylene Netting was used.

Successful Outcomes

The pitch is in constant use,and we continue to work with Redlough currently beside The Luas tracks at St James Hospital.
