Client Vision.
The client had a vision of renovating a 1980s Bungalow in Dublin 6. Their goal was to extend the property and retrofit it to achieve an A2 BER rating and Passive House levels of insulation and airtightness. In addition, they wanted to design the house and exterior to accommodate any future needs for the owners in their retirement.
Key Challenges.
The property was situated in a residential area, so it was crucial to come up with a design that was both efficient and acceptable to the neighbors. Being located in the corner of a small estate on Temple Rd, the property was gated, which posed restrictions on site access. Moreover, it was anticipated that on-site changes of layout would be required due to engineering demands and the client's evolving vision as the works progressed. The structural steel component also required precise measurements and a speedy turnaround.
Overcoming the Challenges.
In this particular project, the main contractor, DMCM, handled the on-site installation of materials provided by Irish Fencing Services. Our draughtsman, Pawel Popek, played a crucial role by providing detailed installation drawings. To automate the front gate, we partnered with Electro Automation and our skilled installation crew made the necessary adjustments for a perfect fit. Throughout the project, our Production and Installation departments were readily available to provide advice whenever needed.
Products Supplied.
We supplied a variety of high-quality products, including composite front gates with matching fencing, creating a visually appealing and functional bin storage area. Additionally, we installed Kinsale Mesh Gate and Panels to separate a garden area from external storage and a heat pump. For the patio edge, we provided an elegant 500mm high Interwoven Bow Railing, and a single leaf Pedestrian Gate was installed to provide a new rear access to the property. This gate was equipped with internal and external keypads as well as hydraulic closers. We also supplied the structural beams and columns, which were meticulously designed by the Engineer Marty Wardick, and we certified their compliance with our EN 1090-1 quality certification.
Positive Outcomes
The project was a resounding success, achieving the desired A2 BER rating. In fact, a subsequent random inspection conducted by SEAI resulted in a 100% pass. The fencing, gates, and railings have garnered praise for their quality and aesthetics, and, most importantly, our client is ecstatic with the results.
